Buddhism originated in India with the birth of Siddhartha Gautama, who founded a way of life for all human beings. The Buddhist religion moved across Asia through China, Tibet, Korea and Japan. As Buddhism moved through these countries, it flourished and was enhanced by the native interpretation of each culture.

With this idea of pure Buddhism and in keeping with the American way of life, the Long Beach Buddhist Church was started. By the term “non–sectarianism“ it is meant that the Buddha’s original and pure teachings in its entirety are followed. With non-sectarianism, an attempt is being made to foster the growth of American Buddhism.
