Gyobutsuji

The Gyobutsuji of Nizza is a community of 120 persons, monks, nuns, bodhisattvas and lay people who practice regularily zazen in a city temple.

The temple is located 4 bis Av.Notre-Dame 06000 Nice.
It is 15 minutes by bus from the airport and 10 minutes walks from the train station.

It was created in 1978 as a zazen group by disciples of Master Deshimaru.
It became Gyobutsuji when Yuno Rech joined it in 1997.
Since then there is zazen practice everyday except on sunday.
Time table is on : http://zen-nice.org

Apart from zazen there are also daily ceremonies with sotozen sutra singing.
Every month a Ryaku Fusatsu ceremony takes place.
We also organize workshops to study mahayana sutras.
Teisho on such themas as “life and death”, “passions and illusions”, “zen and ecology” or “zen at work”are offered to everybody interested.

We also organize three sesshin per year in Pégomas (between Cannes and Grasse), gathering from 80 to 140 persons coming from all Europe.

We have recently created an association to coordinate our activities and provide teaching materials.
It is the ABZE : Association Bouddhiste Zen d’Europe.
Its web site is www.abzen.eu and mail-address: info@abzen.eu Gyobutsuji-zazen
