In 1974, the first Buddhist Monastery in Latin America was established by the Bishop Ryohan Shingu. In 1998, the name of the temple changed from Busshinji to Zenkoji in honor of the contribution made by Niwa Renpo Zenji in Eiheiji, and Narazaki Ikko Roshi in Zuioji. In 2005, the temple was recognized as one of the Eiheiji Gojikimatsu. Every year, 3-day and 7-day "Sesshin" take place, as well as the periods of Angô and Toku-Ango, along with numerous partner-environmental programs for the general community.
