Zenposan Bendoji ( 禅峰山弁道寺) is a little temple in the capital of Switzerland, Bern. 5 years ago Bendoji was built at the actual place into a almost 100 years old villa surrounded with a quit big garden with old trees and rocks – a quiet place in the City Centre. The temple is runed by my wife Naomi Muto, Japanese by origin and me, Hogen Shuei, Dharmaheir of Nishiyama Kosen Roshi , abot of Daimanji, Sendai.
The small Sangha of Zenposan Bendoji exists in changing constitution since june 6th, 1993. Since 1996 we practice together with Nishiyama Roshi. The name Zenposan Bendoji was given by Nishiyama Roshi. Some would say the way of our practice is very Japanese. We do ceremonies and use oryoki. One hears the sound of bells, kyosaku and also shakuhachi. Over the centuries - it is always different.
We sit below the surface of the earth. On the butsudan are Shakyamuni Buddha, Kanzeon Bosatsu and Jizo Bosatsu enshrined. The walls are clothed with yellow clay – “Still alive plunging into the yellow spring”.
Time and place are always indicated on our actualized homepage:www.sotozen.ch.
The conditions and the challenges over the centuries remain for humans similar. Liberty and peace are still strongly desired. Are you looking for an easy way? Things realize not directly and follow the way of karma. Things actualize like wisteria. We have no other way as to learn to see the Buddhamind within the mud and the waves of our own body and mind, within our own actual daily life. You're invited to practice and to strive with us for the truth (bendoho).
