Often represented with a thousand eyes and a thousand arms, Kannon, Boddhisattva of compassion, hears the sounds of the world and relieves human suffering.
In the Orient as in the West, compassion is acknowledged as the supreme value. Buddha’s teaching enlightens everything ; the bright wisdom that ensues is nothing else but compassion.
Kanshoji’s vocation is to help beings to open their mind to the world, and attain lucidity.
The monastery, open to the world, is a place of practice, of meeting, and the attainment of clear-mindedness.
Every day, morning and evening, we gather in the dojo to practise zazen.
Every month a sesshin takes place, bringing monks and lay peolple together.
The hattô is the ceremonial hall where our gratitude to the universe, our devotion to Buddha, heart of all existences , is expressed.
Maître Dogen came back from China empty handed, « horizontal eyes, vertical nose », he did not propose special practices. Like his teacher Nyojo, he taught that our sphere of activity is everyday life.
The teaching (kusen, chosan, teisho et mondo) is given by the superior of the monastery, Minamizawa’s Roshi's disciple. It is also open to other Soto Zen teachers.
