  • Our doors are open to all who wish to meditate, whether just for a day, or for the long term. Our meditational program is based on that established by the founders of the sect (Dogen), Taiso (Keizan), and Kaisan (Jakuen). It consists of a 90-day period of establishing a restful mind, during which time the participant engages in meditation and reading of the sutras, living according to the dietary rules of the establishment, and in accordance with the great flow of the natural, living "each day as if it were a whole life". Extensive meditation leads to an inner respect for, and confidence in, oneself. This leads, in turn, to being able to face others with confidence, conscientiously pray with them (in the style of Dogen who made this a tenet of his Buddhism), and learn the great compassion and mercy that dwells deep in the human heart. Without even having to tell others, you will then live each day in a state of deep repose, at one with the natural, you eyes open to the insights of the true Buddha, leading to enlightenment. Thus the practitioner of meditation will follow the path of a bodhisattva, living life to the fullest in truth and happiness.
